Re: DONE: randomly selected PS locations in NE

		Thanks for your help Terri.

I have some questions. First, I was unable to open the Arcmap file you
sent. None of the coverages were displayed. It looks as though Arcmap is
trying to find pathways that do not exist. Anyway, that part is probably
not critical.

As for the report files from the selection program (.rpt), I assume these
files contain the output of Jon's program but I'm having trouble
understanding them. For example, in the glacial aquifer output file
(glac_glac.rpt) I find a number of sites listed by "Site". For most
unique Site numbers there are several duplicated Site numbers. I assume
these are the alternate sites. But for the glacial aquifer there are only
14 unique numbers under "Site". Does this mean the program only selected
14 systems for the glacial aquifer? If I count the alternate sites then
there are 37. But I'm afraid if I use the alternate sites then the
distribution would be highly clustered. Also, I am not sure how to
determine of the site is in or out of an RFG area.

The same issue seems to exist for most other PAs. You mentioned that less
than 30 systems were able to be selected from the Mesozoic aquifer. I
only counted 11 unique Site numbers in report file. However, none of the
other PAs seem to have 30 unique Site numbers. In the NACP I count only
25 unique Site numbers, 19 in the NYNE crystalline, and 10 unique site
numbers in the Piedmont.

Any ideas on what I should do?

DONE: randomly selected PS locations in NE

Hi Mike.

I put 2 WinZipped files into ftp anonymous for you. They are:
moran_ps.gdb.zip --> a geodatabase of the files I used for the site
selection

associated_files.zip --> contains the following:
the report files from the random
selection
an ArcGIS map document showing the selected sites
JPG maps showing the selected sites
Description of the process I used in the random selection

I was able to get 30 primary sites for all the PAs except the Early
Mesozoic. There were fewer selected sites for the Early Mesozoic probably
due to the size and shape of the aquifer combined with rfg areas and the
distribution of potential sites.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional help.
